i love earrings! :) but i tend to be very fussy about them, i only wear specific colours, specific types, specific designs, and all of them tend to be independent events, i.e., i may like a particular design in a particular colour, but i will not like the same design in another colour (*grin* did i use the term "independent events" correctly?)
looking for a dream pair that is simple and yet elegant, stud-like but still somewhat dangly, silver with white diamond, uniquely-designed ... but still looking, haven't found one that i like yet =p the pair that xm's mum gave her previously is really nice, maybe along similar lines, or maybe something else :)
anyways, popped down to hong kong street (just off north bridge road, yup mel, i found the little shops selling beads and swarovski crystals, thanks for directions! =p) today after going back to jj to get some stuff, and spent 52 bucks buying coloured swarovski crystals of different sizes, hooks, metal thingeys, bead pliers and cutters for my first attempt at hand-made earrings =p
kip's first attempt at making a pair of earrings was pretty good indeed, he's quite the handyman, so he works things out pretty quickly ... and so with that, i got my first greeny pair of glam-looking earrings =p

check out earrings pair no. 1! really slick right? =p
i took much longer, cos i learn better if someone teaches me, rather than if i just observe and try to imitate ... so, after kip's help and after trying out and playing around with the little thingeys for quite some time, (it's not as easy as it looks! =p) and spending ages deciding which colour combi suited my skin colour, as well as looked good on me, i came up with my first pair of earrings! and man, it looks really good too :) (haha, will let you judge for yourself when the photos are out, tag your comments on the earrings yah?)

my first pair of hand-made earrings! :) nice?
first earring-making session, pair no. 2!
at the end of this first earring-making session, i had 5 new pairs of earrings!!! *yipee* 2 rather unique pairs, and 3 simple, but pretty colourful pairs, that will match with my school-going clothes :) wanted to show you guys some photos but haven't been able to take good shots so please check back again some time in the not-so-distant-future for photos =p

and the other 3 pairs of earrings from the first earring-making session respectively,
in order of when they were made =p simple but effective everyday pairs :)
hopefully, the 50 plus bucks will be recuperated soon enough from all the earrings that we make eventually =p *grin* assuming that these earrrings will cost me about 3 bucks each (is 3 bucks a reasonable estimate or too expensive?) if i had bought them from shops, i would need to make 54/3 = 18 pairs of earrings to cover costs =p hahaha, guess the fixed/sunk costs of the bead pliers and cutters are hard to cover =p maybe i should check if my variable costs of hooks and beads can be covered in the short run, if not i should consider shutting down? *grin*
