hand-made earrings! *smile*

|

i love earrings! :) but i tend to be very fussy about them, i only wear specific colours, specific types, specific designs, and all of them tend to be independent events, i.e., i may like a particular design in a particular colour, but i will not like the same design in another colour (*grin* did i use the term "independent events" correctly?)

looking for a dream pair that is simple and yet elegant, stud-like but still somewhat dangly, silver with white diamond, uniquely-designed ... but still looking, haven't found one that i like yet =p the pair that xm's mum gave her previously is really nice, maybe along similar lines, or maybe something else :)

anyways, popped down to hong kong street (just off north bridge road, yup mel, i found the little shops selling beads and swarovski crystals, thanks for directions! =p) today after going back to jj to get some stuff, and spent 52 bucks buying coloured swarovski crystals of different sizes, hooks, metal thingeys, bead pliers and cutters for my first attempt at hand-made earrings =p

kip's first attempt at making a pair of earrings was pretty good indeed, he's quite the handyman, so he works things out pretty quickly ... and so with that, i got my first greeny pair of glam-looking earrings =p

check out earrings pair no. 1! really slick right? =p

i took much longer, cos i learn better if someone teaches me, rather than if i just observe and try to imitate ... so, after kip's help and after trying out and playing around with the little thingeys for quite some time, (it's not as easy as it looks! =p) and spending ages deciding which colour combi suited my skin colour, as well as looked good on me, i came up with my first pair of earrings! and man, it looks really good too :) (haha, will let you judge for yourself when the photos are out, tag your comments on the earrings yah?)

my first pair of hand-made earrings! :) nice?
first earring-making session, pair no. 2!

at the end of this first earring-making session, i had 5 new pairs of earrings!!! *yipee* 2 rather unique pairs, and 3 simple, but pretty colourful pairs, that will match with my school-going clothes :) wanted to show you guys some photos but haven't been able to take good shots so please check back again some time in the not-so-distant-future for photos =p

and the other 3 pairs of earrings from the first earring-making session respectively,
in order of when they were made =p simple but effective everyday pairs :)

hopefully, the 50 plus bucks will be recuperated soon enough from all the earrings that we make eventually =p *grin* assuming that these earrrings will cost me about 3 bucks each (is 3 bucks a reasonable estimate or too expensive?) if i had bought them from shops, i would need to make 54/3 = 18 pairs of earrings to cover costs =p hahaha, guess the fixed/sunk costs of the bead pliers and cutters are hard to cover =p maybe i should check if my variable costs of hooks and beads can be covered in the short run, if not i should consider shutting down? *grin*

i tried, but i failed. i'm sorry.

tried to help, but guess i thought too much, or was too sure of my own instincts.

as aptly summed up, "i jumped to wrong conclusions too quickly."

i'm sorry. i was way out of line. i let my observations and consequent emotions get the better of me. i thought that we were close enough frens to talk about certain things, but i guess i was wrong.

rest assured that i will not be so forward ever again. i didn't mean to interfere. i guess it came out all wrong.

take care, my friend.

just musing, and this came to mind... i love the song :p

No Way Out by Phil Collins (from the movie Brother Bear)

Everywhere I turn, I hurt someone
But there's nothing I can say
to change the things I've done
I'd do anything within my power
I'd give everything I've got
But the path I seek is hidden
from me now

Brother Bear, I let you down
You trusted me, believed in me
and I let you down
Of all the things I hid from you
I cannot hide the shame
And I pray someone, something will
come, to take away the pain

There's no way out of this dark place
No hope, no future
I know I can't be free
But I can't see another way
I can't face another day

something beautiful =)

something absolutely beautiful that i've gotten off my fren's blog, enjoy!

Possibilities :: 可能

drey framed! :p

red apple, green apple? let's just have both! :)

received a call from naughty by nature today, and yes, i accepted their offer for a makeover/glam shot thingey =p this was a first for me! (yes, believe it or not! though it may be pretty obvious from my sense of dressing on a daily basis that i have no sense of style whatsoever =p) and i had a lot of fun at the photo shoot (despite the whole process taking almost 3 hours), especially with the photographer who took the casual shots =p well, being a gal, once in a while, you like to pretend that you too can adopt different poses and postures and primp and smile sweetly for the camera =p haahaa, although the outcome may be far from what you see in magazines and on tv, simply because hey, we weren't all born to be supermodels yah? :)

theoretically, there were 2 types of shots taken, namely (1) casual and (2) glamour ... but as you can see, the 2 shots i displayed here aren't really glamour shots per se =p that's because when i eventually did not sign up for the $2600 plus package, we were supposed to pick 2 of our favourite shots to keep, while the rest were deleted, and i picked the casual shots instead of the glam shots =p

why, you may ask? because i look terrible (like a fat, ugly auntie) in the glamour shots, so much so that i have concluded that i cannot ever ever in my life take glamour or formal shots again =p believe me, i looked even worse in these glamour shots, than in my prom nite shots, as if those weren't bad enough already =p i think i look good in simple, ordinary clothes :) jialat, like this, when i get married, years down the road, how to take photo with wedding gown? i will look like a troll :( any alternatives to wedding gowns? i am obviously not designed to look glam =p maybe should have wedding in casual clothes =p or be dressed super expensive custom-made-to-fit, for-the-occasion, glamour clothes =p

okies, enough said, just enjoy the two kodak moments =p at least i'm not too bad at acting cute :p

back in nie =p and a quick run-down on practicum :)

|

practicum is over and we're now back in nie =p

was way too busy to blog during practicum, but now that it's over, just a quick update to tell the world that i'm still here, alive and kicking, perhaps with slightly less gusto than before, since practicum has been a somewhat tiring but nevertheless enjoyable and fun experience altogether! =p

had the opportunity to teach both econs and maths at jjc (5 classes in total, 2 H2 econs classes, 1 H1 econs class, and 2 H2 maths classes) and i must say that i really love the place :) as well as the kids (note: kids is a generic term of endearment that we call our students, it does not in any way denote their age) will definitely miss them to bits =p

didn't manage to take photos with all the kids, but here are some of them that i did take photos with, enjoy! =p

just a quick note to all those whom i've had the opportunity to get to know better over the past few months, thanks for the memories and it has been a blessing to have you in my life :) to the kids especially: in your 2 years in jc, study hard, play hard, i'm sure you'll do well! :)
